Flow-Arts for Fun

The Circus Arts have come to the people! You too can become skilled at using props and toys, in patterns, with partners, in circles, weavings, and spinnings. This is what has been named the “FlowArts”. It is a merging of circus tricks & skills, martial arts, prop spinning, juggling, and total improvisation, to create momentum that is pleasing, surprising, geometrically skillful, and ultimately, very meditational. Thus, we say we are Flowing, no matter what the prop is.

My first ”flow” love is the Hoop. It can be a great way to get an aerobic workout, spinning around the body, as well as be very dramatic and dancerly, when you decide to play with it off-body. Hoops come in ALL sizes, and there are infinite ways to learn to use 2 at once, 4, or more – just ask!

As an explorer, I could not resist moving deeper into the FLOW, so many props are available, I invite you to try something new! Juggling, perhaps? Use a contact staff to roll around your body, or more like a martial arts stick? Float thru the air with colorful Silk Fans? Make jazz hands with Torches? If you are interested, I can introduce you to fire-spinning skills. Just ask!
